Malaysian-own printing ink manufacturer Toyo Ink Group has wrapped up negotiations with authorities in the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang for building a US$3 billion thermal power plant.
After signing a contract earlier this week the company is now awaiting a license for the plant, the government website reported Thursday.
The 2,000 MW plant, to be fueled mainly by imported coal, is slated to go on stream in 2018.
Toyo Ink, which now runs two retail and production subsidiaries in Vietnam, has been seeking to build a thermal power plant since 2006, but did not get permission from the government until 2012.
