MASkargo, the air cargo unit of Malaysia Airlines, has launched its route to Hanoi, two years after its debut flight to Ho Chi Minh City, to continue tapping the growing economy in Vietnam.
The first flight, using A330-200 aircraft, departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport and arrived in Hanoi's Noi Bai International Airport Wednesday, MASkargo said on its website.
The routing for the twice-weekly flight is Kuala Lumpur - Singapore - Labuan - Hanoi - Kuala Lumpur.
“We want to grow in the Vietnamese market by facilitating export and import links between that country and its trading partners,” Bernama newspaper quoted MASkargo CEO Mohd Yunus Idris as saying Thursday.
“With a GDP growth of 5.42 percent in 2013, we are definitely seeing a huge potential to grow our business in Vietnam,” he said.
Hanoi is known for its large exports of electronic parts and equipment as well as garments and footwear.
The Malaysian news agency continued to quote Yunus as saying MASkargo is confident of supporting Hanoi in the fast and efficient movement of goods, greatly benefiting from this advantage in enabling access to global destinations across Asia, Europe, India, Japan and the Middle East.
