Saigon Shipbuilding Industry Company (SSIC) Monday handed over an 11,000-DWT cargo vessel, the largest ever built by the firm, to Taiwan-based Franbo Lines Corporation.
The Franbo Progress vessel, 114.3 meters long and 18.8 meters wide, can reach a maximum speed of 13.8 nautical miles per hour.
Japan's NK Register supervised the work on the freighter, said Thai Van Hung, general director of SSIC.
He said the company would build another 11,000-ton vessel for the same Taiwanese firm.
Saigon Shipbuilding Industry Corp. is a member of the state-owned Vietnam Shipbuilding Corporation, known as Vinashin.
