iPad touch screen maker to build Vietnam factory

Taiwanese-owned Wintek Corporation on Sunday signed a contract to build a factory producing touch screens for iPhone and iPad in the northern province of Bac Giang.

 

According to Vietnam News Agency, the project will cover more than 60 hectares of land at the Quang Chau Industrial Zone.

 

However, in the first stage, Wintek, which is one of only two companies in the world making  iPad's touch screens, will rent over ten hectares and a factory in the zone to run its production line with an investment of some US$150 million.

 

The project, expected to go into operation next year, will employ about 30,000 workers.
