InterContinental Asiana Saigon
officially announces the appointment of its new director of food and beverage, director of sales and marketing and new executive chef.
Mr. Derek Gomez, the new Director of Food and Beverage at the hotel, was most recently the Assistant Director of Food and Beverage of InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, Vietnam.
Originally from Malaysia, Derek has more than twenty years of experiences in hospitality, food and beverage management throughout Asia and Middle East during his tenure with the prestigious hotel brands. Prior to his move to Vietnam, Derek has been working through a number of esteemed properties such as Four Seasons Hotel Riyadh, Renaissance Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Four Seasons Langkawi Malaysia, Le Meridien Hotel Kuala Lumpur and holding a variety of positions, which supports him as the current Director of Food and Beverage of the hotel.
In his new role, Derek will be in charge of food and beverage operations of three restaurants, two bars and banqueting of InterContinental Asiana Saigon – Asia’s Leading City Hotel 2014 and Vietnam’s Leading Conference Hotel 2014 by the prestigious World Travel Awards.
“With over twenty years of experience in the international hospitality industry and a solid culinary and wine knowledge, Derek Gomez will enhance the success of all food and beverage outlets of InterContinental Asiana Saigon and definitely bring the great dining experiences to all food connoisseurs in town”, shared Mr. James Young, Area General Manager Indochina and General Manager of InterContinental Asiana Saigon.
A graduate of the University of Toulouse, France, Derek is also an experienced sommelier and a member of Society of Wine Educators.
The InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has also appointed Mr. Ayush Choudhry to the position of Director of Sales and Marketing at InterContinental Asiana Saigon and Area Director of Sales & Marketing of the Indochina market.
He will directly lead sales and marketing functions at the InterContinental Asiana Saigon and InterContinental Asiana Saigon Residences while overseeing Sales and Marketing operations across the IHG portfolio in Indochina. He will be based at InterContinental Asiana Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Prior to the new appointment, Ayush held various leadership roles in revenue and hospitality management for a number of prestigious properties across Asia and most recently worked as the Area Director of Revenue Management, InterContinental Hotels Group, Philippines.
With extensive hospitality experience, Ayush also has a solid background in high quality food and beverage operations and Six Sigma. He holds a Master of Management in Hospitality from Cornell University.

In his spare time, Ayush enjoys playing cricket and spending time exploring the local lifestyle and destination with his wife.
Meanwhile Mr. Eric Fettke will come in as the new Executive Chef at InterContinental Asiana Saigon.
In his new role, Eric will oversee the entire kitchen operation of three restaurants and banqueting of InterContinental Asiana Saigon – Asia’s Leading City Hotel and Vietnam’s Leading Conference Hotel by World Travel Awards 2014.
Eric comes to Ho Chi Minh City with over twenty years of experience playing a role as the Executive Chef of InterContinental Hotels Group’s high-profile properties around the world including InterContinental Aqaba Resort on the Red Sea, Jordan, InterContinental Hanoi Westlake and InterContinental Hanoi Landmark 72, InterContinental Warszawa, Poland, and InterContinental Johannesburg , South Africa.
After many years working in Hanoi, Chef Eric has also gained remarkable understanding of Asian cuisine which will help him deliver a comprehensive culinary experience to local and visiting guests.
With an accomplished culinary background that includes positions at some of the most celebrated dining destinations, Eric is known for blending exquisite technique with modern cooking methods and artistic plating, creativity and innovation. He will bring deft artistry and solid understanding of Vietnamese and Asian taste to his new role.
