Hanoi has urged businesses in the city to pay more than US$190.4 million of tax they still owe this year.
Thai Dung Tien, deputy head of Hanoi Tax Department, said VND3,461 billion, or 86.5 percent of the money, is collectable while VND122 billion or 3 percent will prove difficult.
The status of rest is not clear, Tien was cited by the Vietnam News Agency report Friday.
He said the tax department since early this year has been working to categorize and analyze tax debts.
The department has also asked local authorities to press businesses to pay their tax dues.
It is estimated that the Hanoi tax department will collect VND114,880 billion in taxes this year, up 19.9 percent year-on-year.
