German quality and testing service provider TÃœV SÃœD officially opened on May 17 its latest laboratory for the textile, clothing and footwear industries in Vietnam.
"The opening of the new lab in Vietnam is our significant milestone and most important investment of 2010," said the firm's CEO Manfred
Bayerlein. "It will support Vietnam's export sectors and enhance job creation in the manufacturing sectors."
The laboratory located in Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Binh Industrial Park is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and technology to provide comprehensive testing capabilities.
These include chemical, performance, quality, and regulatory testing, which covers flammability testing and fiber label identification for manufacturers, according to TÃœV SÃœD.
"By getting their products tested and certified by an independent third party, Vietnamese manufacturers will be able to provide greater assurance to their clients regarding the quality and safety of their products," said Suresh N Somou, general director of TÃœV SÃœD PSB Vietnam.
The subsidiary, which grew out of a representative office for Asia Pacific established in 2006, signed a memorandum of understanding with Quatest 3, a quality watchdog located in HCMC.
