Gasoline distributors will keep retail prices unchanged through the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival which falls in early February, Nguyen Cam Tu, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, said Thursday.
He said the country will not lack gas in the coming months as it has imported only 70 percent of the annual quota for oil products in the first eleven months of this year, and has 30 percent left for the last month.
Besides, the Dung Quat refinery is running at full capacity, he said.
Nguyen Sinh Khang, deputy general director of PetroVietnam, said the refinery churns out around 200,000 cubic meters of oil products per week.
Tu said gas stations that indulge in speculation and hoard oil products will have their licenses revoked.
Currently, the popular A92 gasoline costs VND16,400 a liter while A95 gasoline retails at VND16,900 per liter.
Diesel is sold at VND14,750 per liter, and kerosene at VND15,100 per liter.
