A catering kitchen developed by Italian and local partners opened in Binh Duong Province last week to serve workers and students in industrial parks and schools in southern Vietnam.

Cooperativa Italiana Di Ristorazione, or CIR, and Vietnamese ENT Trading Company have invested a total of US$2 million in joint venture Vitafood, which aims to produce 20,000 servings a day.

The venture, founded in 2007, serves food from all three of the main regions and plans to expand its business to wedding and party services and franchises, said the venture's CEO Vo Tan Thanh.

Thanh said the rapidly growing industrial sector was opening up opportunities in the highly-potential market segment.
