Vietnam's first private helicopter owner said he would lease his chopper to his company for business purposes at a symbolic annual rent of VND1.
Tran Dinh Long, chairman of the Hoa Phat Group, Vietnam's largest-listed steel producer, has purchased a Eurocopter EC135P2i chopper for US$4.9 million.
Because the chopper can only travel at low altitudes, Long says he is still awaiting approval from the Ministry of National Defense before his first flight.
Long is the second person in Vietnam to own a private aircraft. Vietnam's richest man, Doan Nguyen Duc, who runs the Hoang Anh Gia Lai Joint-Stock Co., owns a Beechcraft King Air 350. The plane's estimated value is $5.1 million.
