Feed manufacturer Cargill Vietnam has acquired a shrimp feed plant in Vietnam's Mekong Delta from a Japanese manufacturer, according to a report in Tuoi Tre on Tuesday.

The value of the deal was not released.

The US$4 million plant with an annual output capacity of 10,000 to 15,000 tons has been operated by Higashimaru Ltd. Co. Tien  in Giang Province since 2008.

Cargill Vietnam plans to start producing Cargill-brand shrimp feed in February or March, Tuoi Tre reported.

This will be Cargill's first shrimp feed plant in Vietnam. It owns six other feed plants across the country.
