Next month the Sofitel Saigon Plaza will be serving Wagyū beef and laying out a new international lunch buffet.

The intensely marbled, melt-in-your-mouth Wagyū beef from Australia will be on the a-la-carte menu at the hotel's Olivier restaurant for lunch and dinner from August 16 to 28.

In its press release, the Sofitel Saigon Plaza says Wagyū beef comes from a highly prized breed of cattle that are massaged and given sake skin treatment. They are also fed with beer to stimulate their appetite in the languid heat of summer. These unique characteristics and special treatment make for a flavor-filled, tender and juicy top-grade meat.

For starters at Olivier, the choice will be between Tartar George V style with gaufrette potatoes, and seared fillet with pink peppercorn crust and wasabi mayonnaise.

This will be followed by either tenderloin with confit of garlic and fresh horseradish, or sirloin dressed with Olivier's signature Dijon mustard sauce, and grilled asparagus.

Also at the Sofitel, Café Rivoli is putting on an international lunch buffet every Monday to Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Healthy ingredients are the focus of this new business lunch that features a large salad bar, freshly baked bread, a pasta counter with more than six types of sauce, and a carving station with fish and meat of the day cooked to order. Unlimited herbal tea and freshly brewed coffee are available to complete the meal.

The Sofitel Saigon Plaza is located at 17 Le Duan Boulevard, District 1, HCMC. For more information, call the hotel on (08) 3 824 1555.
