Vietnam's former Miss Universe candidate to compete at Miss World 2012

The first runner-up for Miss Vietnam 2010 Vu Hoang My will represent Vietnam at Miss World 2012, to take place in China from July 18 to August 18.

My, a 24-year-old student from the southern province of Dong Nai, is 173 cm tall and is majoring in multimedia and design at RMIT University in Ho Chi Minh City.

A modern woman of sporty and charity activities, the Vietnamese representative is expected to do well in the following categories: Miss World Top Fitness/Sport, Miss World Beauty with a Purpose, and Miss World Beach Beauty.

In an interview with newswire Zing after the announcement, My said she will compete in all categories and expects to be among the top 15 or 10 finalists.

She represented the country at the Miss Universe 2011 competition in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

"My is a good candidate thanks to her fluent English and her experience from Miss Universe. Her qualifications are compatible with Miss World's requirements," said a beauty contest expert who requested anonymity.

My has only three weeks to prepare for her performance at the 62th Miss World, to be held in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, Shang Hai, Hong Kong, and Sanya, China. Candidates from more than 120 countries and territories worldwide will compete at the event.
