A 121-year-old woman living on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City took a step toward becoming the world’s oldest living person after obtaining national verification of her proof of birth.
On Tuesday (July 22) the Vietnam Book of Records (Vietkings) granted a certificate recognizing Nguyen Thi Tru, born on May 4, 1893, as the oldest living person in Vietnam.
Tru has 11 children, only four of whom are still alive. Her husband died in 1963.
She currently resides in HCMC’s Binh Chanh District with the family of her youngest son, who is 72 years old.
