Vietnamese win 3 prizes at Korea modern dance contest

Two Vietnamese dancers and a choreographer from Arabesque dance troupe have won top prizes at the 3rd Korea International Modern Dance Competition (KIMDC) that concluded in Seoul Sunday.

Nguyen Huu Thuan, 23, and Do Thi Hai Anh, 22, won the Silver Male Senior Award and Silver Female Senior Award in the 14 34 age category while Ngo Thanh Phuong won the Best Choreography Award.

Thuan and Anh are both graduates of the Vietnam Dance College and have been invited to perform at several shows in Vietnam and abroad, including the Dance Festival in France, ballet shows in Cambodia and Laos, Thanh Nien's fund-raising music, dance and fashion gala Charming Vietnam.

KIMDC is organized and sponsored by the Korea Dance Association, the Arts Council of Korea, and the country's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The third competition, which was held for the first time in 2010, took place from May 29 to June 3 at the Daehangno Arts Theater in the Korean capital.
