Vietnam Ballet and Theater will introduce a new ballet opera named "Dinh Menh Bat Chot"( A Sudden Destiny) by famous Vietnamese French music composer Nguyen Thien Dao.

The 90 minute ballet opera, expected to launch in March 2012, was inspired by "Truyen Kieu" the supremely famous narrative poem by Nguyen Du, one of Vietnam's greatest writers.

Nguyen Thien Dao, who works in contemporary classical music in Paris, came to France in 1953 to study composition with Olivier Messiaen, one of the major composers of the 20th century.

According to him, this ballet opera is an adventure. "Dinh Menh Bat Chot is a work which blends dancing, poem recital, video, choir and different traditional music," he said.

It is a challenging work for him and other artists as there have been prior films and theater productions inspired by this influential novel, although they all failed to capture the essence of this masterpiece of Vietnamese literature.
