Twelve-year-old Vietnamese actress Phung Hoa Hoai Linh won the Best Female Actor at the 8th international Asia Africa Film Festival in Dubai on December 14.
Linh acts as Thu, a little girl in Tam Hon Me (Mamy's Soul), a film by director Pham Nhue Giang.
Inspired by the story with the same name by well-known writer Nguyen Huy Thiep, the film features the life of a mother and her little daughter.
They live in a small island in the middle of Hong river, surrounded by skyscrapers in the capital city.
This is the second time a Vietnamese actress has won this prize. Prior to Phung Hoa Hoai Linh, famous actress Hong Anh won the same prize in 2008 with the film Trang Noi Day Gieng (The Moon At The Bottom of the Well).
Hong Anh also acts as Phung Hoa Hoai Linh's mother in Mamy's Soul film.
