Vietnamese artists perform in the Philippines

Vietnamese artists, models and reporters attended a cultural exchange performance held in Manila on July 12 to celebrate the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relationship between Vietnam and the Philippines.

The cultural performance featured a photographic exhibition of Vietnamese famous sights, traditional folk song performances and an ao dai (Vietnamese traditional tunic) fashion show, according to the Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper.

Highlights of the event included solo performances by senior artists including Tuyet Mai, Dinh Linh, Anh Tan and Duc Dung, playing Vietnamese traditional musical instruments like dan bau (monochord musical instrument), dan da (stone musical instrument) and T'rung (kind of bamboo musical instrument.)

Top Vietnamese models including Hoang Yen, Huong Giang, Anh Thu and Phung Ngoc Yen joined Filipino models on the catwalk to present noted designer Si Hoang's collection of ao dai.

A fashion show introducing Vietnamese and Filipino traditional costumes will be held at Manila's Resort World on July 13.
