Vietnam water puppet troupe to perform in major Japan festival

The Rong Vang (Golden Dragon) water puppet troupe, member of Idecaf Theater, has been invited to attend the Kijimuna Festa 2012 and the meeting of the International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People (ASSITEJ) in Japan from July 25 to August 6.

It is the second time that Rong Vang is being invited to the festival. The first time was in 2009.

According to Huynh Anh Tuan, director of Idecaf Theater, Rong Vang was chosen after organizers carried out a survey of performances at the Festa since 2007.

According to the Stripe Okinawa, the festival Kijimuna Festa 2012 will take place in 19 venues, with 86 pieces of artwork and 230 shows. It is also the largest number of events and artworks showcased in Kijimuna Festa history.

It is said that the international meeting of ASSITEJ will be held at the same time, in Tokyo and Okinawa. It is also the first time that ASSITEJ international meeting is held during Kijimuna Festa.

Several practical symposiums, seminars, workshops, exhibitions and street performances, especially for children will be held during what has come to be known as Asia's biggest theatrical festival.
