Vietnam to host international textiles and garment festival

For the first time, the International Textiles and Garment Festival, which originated in France, will be held in Vietnam.

The event will take place within the framework of the biennial Hue Traditional Crafts Festival from April 27 to May 1.

According to the organizer, the show, which is part of the celebrations marking Vietnam France Friendship Year 2013-2014, will feature artisans, designers, and artists from around the world.

Among those participating will be Patis Tesoro, Kinor Jiang, Shu Sun, Rui Xu, Guo Xiang Yuan, Zou You, Đặng Thị Minh Hạnh, Francoise Hoffmann, Sophie and Francis Dravigny, as well as French companies Satab de Saint Just Malmont and Puy en Velay.

The festival will display 80 textile and garment items dating back to ancient times, which tell 15 different stories about the history and development of the industry worldwide.

Fashion shows to be put on by the participating designers promise to be special treats for local and foreign attendees alike.
