The first international piano contest in Vietnam commemorating Frederic Chopin's 200th birthday this September will be part of the celebratory lead up to Hanoi's 1,000th anniversary the following month.
The competition would be held on September 4-13 for contestants at 10-25 years old, said Tran Thu Ha, director of the Vietnam National Academy of Music.
Organizers will invite famous musicians and pianists from Japan, France and other countries to act as members of the jury, she said.
World-renowned pianist Dang Thai Son, meanwhile, will be the honorary chairman of the contest, held by the academy in cooperation with the Center of Talents Support and Development, Ha said.
Son will also be the chairman of the competition's arts council, she added.
