Cultural officials on Wednesday suspended a Vietnamese weekly talk show on YouTube after many celebrities complained that they were insulted by the host and her guests.
Officials said more than 20 past episodes of the cheekily named “Nhung ke lam loi, or Bitches in Town” will have to be reviewed and those with inappropriate content must be removed.
“The show contains vulgar and judgmental comments about other people, invades their private lives, hurts their reputation, and causes public outrage,” said a statement released by broadcasting officials from the culture ministry.
The talk show sparked anger among many celebrities with its latest episodes, when the host, Thuy Minh, and two other emcees - Le Minh Ngoc and Nguyen Ngoc Thach, told some singers to quit their job.
In other episodes, they criticized the fashion style of several celebrities and bashed a famous pop star for her alleged love affair.
Officials also demanded a report from Monday Morning Company, which has produced the show since June.
Thuy Minh told VnExpress news website that she will obey the authorities, adding that she is making a new show which will be launched next week.
