The music channel MTV on Thursday named Vietnamese pop star Son Tung M-TP as Best Southeast Asia Act of the 2015 Europe Music Awards.
He will now move on to the final round and compete against other artists from Mainland China & Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan in the category Worldwide Act: Asia.
"I'm really thrilled... Thank you to my fans and supporters," says Son Tung M-TP.
Voting is open on through October 25.
Host Ed Sheeran and co-host Ruby Rose will be taking charge of this year’s MTV EMAs, which will broadcast live across the globe on October 26 from the Mediolanum Forum in Milan.
Son Tung M-TP released his first single in 2013 at the age of 19 and has since become one of the biggest pop stars in the country.
His first role in the film "Chang trai nam ay" (The long gone boy), which was released in November, brought him a Golden Kite award earlier this year.
Last year, local singer Ho Ngoc Ha was nominated for Best Southeast Asia Act. She was then defeated by Sarah Geronimo from the Philippines.
