The Vietnamese version of the popular American fashion reality show "Project Runway" is set to hit local TV screens in April.

Multimedia JSC, which organized three seasons of reality show "Vietnam Next Top Model," also has the Vietnamese copyright for this show.

Le Thi Quynh Trang, CEO of Multimedia, hoped the show would help improve the country's fashion industry by unearthing and training a new generation of fashion designers who can match international demands.

Project Runway focuses on fashion design, and is hosted by top model Heidi Klum.

The contestants are judged on their ability to create the best clothes based on themes and limited by time and materials.

Twelve or more finalists will take on each other and be whittled down to three for the final challenge.

One of the most exciting parts of the contest is creating a garment from non-traditional materials like furnishings, recycled objects, and grocery items.

The show was launched in 2004 to acclaim, and even garnered an Emmy nomination.

Vietnamese American designer Chloe Dao won the second season of Project Runway in 2005.

Multimedia JSC is calling for entries for the show to be broadcast on Sundays from April 28 on Vietnam Television's VTV3 channel.
