American action film actor Roger Yuan has accepted a role in the first-ever fantasy-action Vietnamese film that will be released next year, The Thao & Van Hoa reported Thursday.
Los Angeles-born Yuan, also a stuntman and fight choreographer, will play a villain and speak Vietnamese in the film known in Vietnam as Lua Phat (Monk on Fire).
He arrived in Vietnam on Wednesday for five days of planning with Dustin Nguyen, Lua Phat's director, screenwriter and leading actor.
The 51-year-old actor is expected to return to Vietnam for seven weeks of shooting in mid-November.
Local media reported that Roger Yuan and Dustin Nguyen first met each other in 1993 while shooting "Vanishing Son," an action television series they both had roles in.
Yuan also had roles in the well-known American films "Shanghai Noon" and "Batman Begins."
He also wrote and produced the award-winning short film "Fifth Street," released in 2008.
