University student wins Miss Vietnam in CIS

Phung Thi My, a 23-year-old student from a Moscow university, was crowned Miss Vietnam of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) 2010 in the Russian capital on Sunday.

 

The beauty contest, which is the second of its kind, also named Nguyen Thanh Huyen as the first runner-up, and Ly Karina as the second runner-up.

 

The winners will represent the CIS at the final of Miss Vietnam World 2010 on August 21 at Vinpearl Land in Vietnam's central coastal town of Nha Trang.

 

On Saturday, Nguyen Thu May, another university student from the Czech Republic, beat over 20 contestants to win Miss Vietnam in the Europe.

 

May, whose father is Vietnamese and mother is Czech, will also attend the final together with Nguyen Thi My Hanh and Jenny Bui, the runners-up.
