UK bands set to charm Vietnam

Leading contemporary artists from the UK will perform in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City this November.

Bands Anushka and Bwani Junction will perform live at 6 p.m. in the two cities respectively on November 9 and 10.

The British Council in Vietnam and CAMA Vietnam (Club for Art and Music Appreciation), event organizers, say the event is part of activities celebrating the 40th anniversary of Vietnam UK diplomatic relations and 20 years of the British Council in Vietnam.

In Hanoi, the venue will be: Van Ho Exhibition Center, 2 Hoa Lu Street, Hai Ba Trung District. Music lovers in HCM City, meanwhile, can enjoy the event at Q4, 7 Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, Ho Chi Minh City.

Anushka is a Brighton based duo made up of producer Max Wheeler and singer/songwriter Victoria Port.

Bwani Junction, made up of four young Scottish male artists, has been praised as one of the UK's hottest young indie bands.  Their debut album, Fully Cocked, was nominated for the Scottish Album of the Year 2012; the band won the Best Newcomer award at SAMA (Scottish Alternative Music Awards) 2012.

The UK bands will perform alongside Vietnam's next generation of top musicians including DJ Slim V and flutist Huyen Trang, LND Underground, White Noiz and Saigon Beats.

Besides the performances, the bands will join a musical workshop on November 8 at CAMA ATK, that is expected to bring together scores of talented musicians, both local and international.

Apart from music-related discussions, participants will take part in an informal practice session. This workshop is targeted at those keen on learning more about electronic composition and production, songwriting, singing techniques as well as mixing musical genres.
