Famous for being one of first Vietnamese models to hit the international catwalk, Bebe Pham will make her mark in another sought-after career.

She has been chosen to take part in an historical TV series produced to welcome the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

Huyen su thien do (Legend of the Capital) is a 70-episode-series centered on the life of the first king of the Ly Dynasty, Ly Cong Uan. He was the one who gave the order to move the capital from Ninh Binh province's Hoa Lu to Thang Long, now called Hanoi.

In the series, Bebe Pham will play a fictional character named Giang Binh, who is beautiful, intelligent and proficient in martial arts. She is also the king's soul-mate who understands and supports him through all his travails.

Pham said she is eager to play Giang Binh as it's a boost for her fledgling acting career. Her only previous performance has been in the TV series Nghe tra (Listen to tea).

The serial will have many other noted beauties, including actresses like Giang My, 2008 Miss Vietnam finalist Nhu Quynh and senior actress Ha Xuyen. Also featured will be Rich Ting, an American model and stuntman.

Bebe Pham, 27, also known as Bebe Minh Thuy is a famous name in local modeling. Starting her career on the catwalk at the age of 19 with her real name Minh Thuy, she became BB Minh Thuy as the exclusive model for the Lydac Company.

After coming third at the Supermodel Vietnam Contest in 2005, Pham was recognized and joined Bigfoot Entertainment one year later. At Bigfoot, she changed her named to Bebe Pham and became a renowned model on Fashion TV's programs.

In 2007, Bebe Pham returned to Vietnam and has been a producer for FTV Vietnam.

The first 20 episodes of the series will be aired from October to December this year.
