Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh CIty is hosting the Charming Television ASEAN competition this week with contestants from the grouping's 10 Southeast Asian member nations.

HCMC Television (HTV) is hosting what is broadcast in Vietnamese as Duyen dang truyen hinh, which began March 17 and airs on March 19 and 22, live from the HTV Theater in Ho Chi Minh City.

Each country is fielding two representatives, either singers, dancers, models, or editors with a passion and talent for TV work.

The host representatives are artist Nguyen Ngoc Que Tran and Hanoi Television editor Nguyen Thi Quynh Mai.

Five final contestants will be chosen after vying in national costume, talent, evening dress, and ao dai (Vietnamese traditional tunic) competitions. The top three will receive prizes worth US$3,000, $2,000 and $1,500 respectively.
