Homegrown singer Anh Tuyet and her band, ATB, will kick off a month-long Vietnam tour starting the fourth day of the lunar Year of the Buffalo.
The first three performances will be held in Hanoi from January 29-31 at the Friendship Cultural Palace. The tour will then continue southward to Hue Town, Da Nang City, Binh Dinh Province's Quy Nhon Town and Nha Trang Town in Khanh Hoa Province.
Tuyet's final destination will be Hoa Binh Theater in Ho Chi Minh City, with two performances on February 14 and 28.
The tour will feature over 40 band members and two programs, the first titled Hat cho yeu thuong (Singing for love) comprising 50 songs. It includes oldies by renowned composers Pham Duy, Pham Dinh Chuong and Van Phung, as well as contemporary pieces by Phan Ba Chuc, Tran Tien and Tu Huy.
The second program - Goi ten bon mua (Calling the four seasons) - will feature choruses performing 35 love songs by late Vietnamese legend Trinh Cong Son, dubbed the "Vietnamese Bob Dylan."
The program also features American Richard Fuller (aka Tran Phong Phu) - a self-proclaimed fan of Son's who performs around Vietnam.
Tuyet said she hopes the tour will be as successful as her first one in 2001.
"Some people think that I'm taking a risk with a tour including so many members and no sponsor," Tuyet said. "But I believe in our ability, our love for the songs and the audiences' love for us."
