The second 4-D theater in Hanoi opened on Oct 20.
The National Cinema Center said it invested over US$1.4 million in the 36-seat theater, which is equipped with latest technologies, including a 49-square meter screen and 7.1 sound system installed by experts from the US.
The theatre will present 3-D films with physical effects, including rain, wind, strobe lights, vibration, water sprays and air jets.
Nguyen Danh Duong, director of National Cinema Center, said the theater's physical effects are stronger than existing ones - the Kim Dong theater in the capital city and the 4-D theater at Suoi Tien theme park in Ho Chi Minh City.
The first two films shown in the new theater are Robot Soldier and Haunted Raceway. The 15-minute shows will be presented in the 70mm format, which has higher resolution than the standard 35mm motion picture film format.
Tickets will cost VND50,000-60,000 on weekdays and VND80,000 on weekends. This compares to VND140,000 per screening at the Kim Dong theater.
As the number of 4-D films are few, to attract local audiences and tourists, the theater will try its best to import new films every six months, Duong told the Tien Phong Newspaper.
