A science film festival featuring works from eight Southeast Asian countries is set to take place in more than ten cities and provinces across Vietnam, beginning November 8, news website reported October 29.

Under the theme of "Water", the Science Film Festival challenged students ages 6-18 to explore science and improve their awareness of protecting the global environment, as well as demonstrate that entertainment and learning can be combined effectively through film and television media.

The second film festival of its kind, which will screen more than 20 movies, got underway in Malaysia on October 15 and will be taking place in Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam until December 10.

The festival in Vietnam, which is set to last until the end of this month, is jointly organized by the Goethe Institute Vietnam, the Centre for Research, Support and Development of Culture A&C and Live & Learn Environmental Education Organization in Vietnam.

Besides the screenings at schools over the country, the Goethe Institute will hold a "Green weekend" on November 10 and 11 at its office in Hanoi to present films for student and their families and everybody who wants to join.
