Scandal-hit lingerie model Ngoc Trinh became the newest Miss Vietnam International on August 13.

The 21-year-old model from the Mekong Delta's Tra Vinh Province also took home Miss Bikini and Miss Asia.

Trinh had been in the headlines recently after a series of leaked private photos depicted her engaging in raunchy behavior. She also lied about her past in a recent interview and bragged about going from rags to riches, boasting of a luxurious lifestyle and rich lover.

In the Miss Vietnam International final Q&A competition, Trinh said she felt sorry about what had happened and epressed her gratitude to her parents.

Trinh told Thanh Nien she had not expected to win the contest. She said she thought she'd only come home with some small awards.

The first and second places went to Tra Ngoc Hang, a local model, and Lynna Phan, a Vietnamese-American model.

The contest wrapped up with acoronation held at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center, California in front of 1,200 audience members.

Among the seven contestants who are Vietnamese residents, three -- including Ngoc Trinh, Ngoc Hang and Nhu Thao (fourth runner-up) -- were listed in the contest's top five.
