Six female students of Saint Petersburg State University in Russia, wearing traditional Vietnamese ao dai and holding Vietnamese iconic flower lotuses, performed a dance Saturday to celebrate the 124th birthday of Vietnam’s late president Ho Chi Minh (1890-1969).
They danced to Vietnamese song “Hoa sen Thap Muoi” (Thap Muoi lotuses) whose lyrics compare the flower being the best thing in Thap Muoi, a Mekong Delta destination, to Ho Chi Minh to Vietnam, calling for permanent love and loyalty to the once leader.
This group of performers will come to Vietnam to study in the next academic year.

The birthday celebration, which came two days before the real birthday on May 19, was held by Vietnamese community in St. Petersburg, members of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association and Ho Chi Minh Institute.
