"The Rite of Spring," the world famous ballet written by Russian composer Igor Stravinsky, will be performed in Ho Chi Minh City on June 27 and in Hanoi on June 29.
The performance will be guided by leading French contemporary choreographer Jean-Claude Gallotta.
It is part of the activities during the France-Vietnam year marking the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Brought to the stage for the first time in 1913 in Paris under the tutelage of Russian choreographer Vaslav Nijinski, "The Rite of Spring" caused a sensation almost to the point of rioting among the audience, as it completely went against the patterns of traditional ballets of the time.
But a year later, Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring," which introduced new concepts in music, dance, and storytelling, was accepted by the public and went on to become considered one of the greatest works of art of the 20th century.
In Ho Chi Minh City, the ballet will be performed on 8:00 p.m. at Ben Thanh Theater at 6 Mac Dinh Chi Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1.
In Hanoi, it can be seen at the same time at Tuoi Tre Theater, 11 Ngo Thi Nham Street, Hai Ba Trung District.
Tickets for the shows are available at the Institute for Culture Exchange with France (IDECAF) at 28 Le Thanh Ton, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City and at the at the French Institute in Hanoi, L'Espace, 24 Trang Tien Street, Hoan Kiem District.
Ticket prices ranges from VND80,000-120,000 and are half price for students.
