The fifth annual "Singer's day" event is set to be held from January 17 to 19 in Quang Ninh Province. This year's event will welcome local actors and actresses for the first time.

The event will center around an auction to raise funds for local children suffering from cardiac disease. Besides pop star Dam Vinh Hung's gilded wine bottle, actor Chi Bao will sell five thousands of books entitled Hieu ve trai tim (Understanding the heart) during the auction. A diamond ring worth US$2000 will be gifted to the biggest spender.

Gathering more than 200 local and overseas artists, "Singer's day" centers on relaxing activities, musical performances and a charity party.

The event will also include discussions on celebrity comportment and social responsibility. It will also provide the participants with an opportunity to share some of the challenges they've encountered in the course of their lives and work.

During a press conference on January 10, the organizers said there will be some surprises in this year's program.

Instead of outdoor games, the artists will enjoy a sight-seeing tour of Ha Long Bay and present gifts to underprivileged residents in and around the bay.

"Singer's day" kicked off in 2006 and has travelled to coastal towns like Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phan Thiet, Quy Nhon and Ha Long this year.
