Collector Nguyen Ba Lam on June 23 donated a Polish edition of great poet Nguyen Du's epic poem Truyen Kieu (Tale of Kieu) to Nguyen Du Museum in Nghe An Province's Nghi Xuan District.
The book, published in Warszawa in 1975, is 13cm x 20cm in size and has double-sided printing.
The illustration on the cover is one of Vietnam's Dong Ho traditional paintings called Hung dua (Catching the falling coconut).
Lam, who studied in Poland and serves a position in education, said that he donated his book to enrich the museum's collection of Truyen Kieu's editions in different languages.
Lam also has great interest in studying poet Nguyen Du's life and works.
Nguyen Du's Tale of Kieu is a corner-stone of Vietnamese literature that dates back to the seventeenth century.
It tells the story of an up-and-down life of the beautiful girl Thuy Kieu, who has to sell herself to save her family.
The poem, occupying the role of Shakespeare in Vietnamese literature, has been translated and released in Russian, German, French and English.
The museum will display the book in the near future.
