A photography contest entitled "World heritage in Vietnam" was recently launched by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The contest runs until July.

The competition aims to collect and display photographic works of Vietnam's world heritage sites in order to promote and honor these sites as well as educate the public about their preservation.

Vietnam currently has 13 world heritage sites recognized by UNESCO, including the Complex of Hue Monuments, Ha Long Bay, and Hoi An Ancient Town and the stone steles at the Temple of Literature in Hanoi.

The best photographs will be displayed at exhibitions in both Ha Noi and Da Nang on the 66th anniversary of Vietnam's independence on September 2, 2011.
