Cinema operator Galaxy Cinema has announced it will launch its first two 3D screens in Ho Chi Minh City next Friday, aiming to meet the high local demand for 3D entertainment.
The new screens, both in District 1, are designed and equipped with guidance from Warner Bros. Corporation of Hollywood, Galaxy said.
The highly anticipated remake of Clash of the Titans will be the first 3D film to hit the screens, followed by Shrek 4 and Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, the company said.
Galaxy said it plans to open another 3D screen in Tan Binh District at the end of this month.
Another cinema operator, Megastar, set up Vietnam's first two 3D screens late last year to show blockbuster Avatar. It now has five screens with the capacity to show 3D movies in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Analysts said with Galaxy entering the market segment, the competition to provide 3D entertainment services in Vietnam has kicked off, and ticket prices could get more attractive for customers.
