Music website launched to protect copyrighted products in Vietnam

The Vietnam Center for Protection of Music Copyrights (VCPMC) and the Blue Sea Media company launched a website on June 30 to protect copyrighted musical products in Vietnam.


In its initial stage, the website will introduce 2,000 songs will be uploaded in July, based on music genre, lyrics, and performing styles.


According to VCPMC, the project, supported by nearly 2,000 local musicians and composers, as well as the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam Association of Musicians, is expected to introduce more than 100,000 works to both locals and foreigners.


The website will also include information on composers and songs and support the music fans in communicating directly with the composers.


In April, VCPMC decided to double royalty payments to songwriters, despite opposition from the Recording Industry Association of Vietnam.
