Mrs. World 2011, April Lufriu began a visit in Vietnam Thursday at the invitation of Doan Thi Kim Hong, Vietnamese businesswoman and vice president of the pageant.
The 43-year-old American dental hygienist and mother to three children was accompanied by pageant president David Marmel, who came to select a destination in Vietnam to host the second Mrs World event in the country.
Lufriu told VnExpress she found the Vietnamese people's hospitability "unforgettable."
She added that she hoped the pageant, held once in Vietnam in 2009, will return to the country soon.
Lufriu was in Hanoi on October 12 to attend a ceremony where Marmel and Hong received medals from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for their contributions to cultural and tourism development in Vietnam.
Hong was a contestant at the Mrs. World 2005 contest and was invited to be the chairwoman of examining board in the 2011 edition of the pageant.
Lufriu won the coveted crown of Mrs. World, an annual competition for married women, last year in the United States.
Mrs. Vietnam and Miss Sport Vietnam 1995, Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, finished in third place at the same event.
