Movie star and winner of the Vietnamese version of "Dancing with the stars," Ngo Thanh Van, is making her way back to music with a four-month trans-Viet tour.
The "Rise above with stars" tour will go through Hanoi, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho between September and December, marking a return to music after more than two years by Van.
The star of action-thriller blockbuster Bay Rong (Clash) and several others thrillers will be the performer and emcee of the road tour, accompanied mainly by hip-hop danceers featuring known groups in Ho Chi Minh City.
Mark Joy, a DJ from UK, will be on hand during the tour to remix familiar songs.
HCMC will host the first performance at Nguyen Du Stadium on September 4. The tour will move on to Da Nang on September 25. About 1,000 people are expected to attend the first show.
After the tour, the former model and dance-pop singer said her company Tai Nang Viet (Vietnamese talent) will release anther music product this year, but gave no further detail.
Ngo Thanh Van went to Norway with her family at age 10. Ten years later in 1999, she went back to Vietnam, fisished as 2nd front-runner and started her career in Vietnam as a model for magazines, calendars, fashion collections... She also got the main role in a short TV series on Ho Chi Minh City Television.
In 2002 Van started her career as a pop-dance style singer, recording several albums until 2008. She performed in thrillers during that time.
