A scene from "Gulliver's Travels"
Two famous English language works, Handel's oratorio "Messiah," and Swift's "Gulliver's Travels," will be performed in Vietnam from May 8-11, Tuoi Tre newspaper reported.
"Messiah," written by the German-born British Baroque composer George Frideric Handel in 1741, is considered a choral masterpiece. It will be performed on May 8 and 9 at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House with the participation of vocalists from Norway and Vietnam along with the HCMC Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO).
It made its way to Vietnam for the first time thanks to the efforts of HBSO in coordination with the Norwegian Transposition Program.
After a successful tour of more than 20 Asian and European countries, the British TNT Theater will deliver its take on "Gulliver's Travels" to Vietnam audiences in English with Vietnamese captions.
The play, adapted from the novel of the same name written in 1726 by Irish writer and clergyman Jonathan Swift, will be performed on May 8 at the Hanoi Opera House and May 10 and 11 at the HCMC Opera House.
Tickets for "Gulliver's Travels" are priced from VND500,000-600,000 and VND300,000 for students.
They are available at the Hanoi Opera House located at 1 Trang Tien Street and at the Vietnam Performing Arts Centre. 32 Nguyá»…n Thái Học Street, Ba Đình District in Hanoi; and at the HCMC Opera House, located at 7 Lam Son Square, District 1.
Tickets for 'Messiah' cost between VND400,000-650,000 and VND150,000 for students, and can purchased at the HCMC Opera House box office.
