Le Chant de Mariees (The Wedding Song), a 2008 film by French director Karin Albou will be screened at L'Espace in Hanoi June 17.
The film stars Lizzie Brocheré, Olympe Borval, Najib Oudghiri and tells a historical tale set in Tunis, Tunisia in the 1940s.
In 1942, Nour and Myriam, two childhood friends turned 16. They had grown up in the same building on a poor street where Jews and Muslims lived together in peace.
Both friends longed for the other's life. Nour wanted to go to school like Myriam while Myriam dreamed of love and a handsome prince. Myriam wished she could have a relationship like the one Nour shared with her cousin Khaled.
According to Elle magazine, this is a film about teenage, discovery of gender, fear in love and hardships in nurturing friendship.
