The French cultural center L'Espace in Hanoi will screen a realist "˜dramedy' (drama and comedy) Friday night, followed by concerts and conferences through early next month.
Les bureaux de Dieu (God's Offices), directed by Claire Simon, tells the story of dedicated social workers who devote their long shifts to helping pregnant women.
The screening starts at 8 p.m. at the center's. Tickets cost VND5,000 apiece.
The centre will also host a cabaret party Saturday night. Entrance is free to the event that will be held at the center's hall.
Two conferences at 6 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday next week will be held at center's auditorium.
The first one on contemporary art will be attended by writer, critic and curator Michel Nuridsany.
The second one Une rue, mille ans (One road, a thousand years) will hear speeches by Andrew Hardy, a professor from the French School of the Far East in Hanoi and well known Vietnamese historian Duong Trung Quoc. Admission to both conferences is free.
An electronic music concert will be held on Thursday i at 8 p.m.
The cost is VND50,000 for a pair of tickets. A jazz concert will be held at the Youth Theatre, 11 Ngo Thi Nham at 8 p.m., Friday, December 10 for between VND25,000-100,000 a person.
