A Wine and Food Show will bring customers a variety of delicious wines and dishes from Australia this June in Ho Chi Minh City.
If you are a foodie and/or a vinophile, the Australian Wine and Food Show 2010 is a great chance for you to enjoy a delicious meal and get a little tipsy at the New World Hotel Saigon from May 31 to June 4.
The third annual event features more than 150 different kinds of wine.
"The Australian Wine and Food Show is the perfect chance to introduce Vietnamese customers with Australian cuisine," said Matthias Widor, director of food and beverage in New World Hotel Saigon.
Australian guest chef Peter Kuruvita looks to show off his skills, which have been tested at restaurants in London, the United States, Bali, Fiji and Lord Howe Island.
Kuruvita has also translated his passion for traditional cuisine into a book, "Serendip", which he wrote about Sri Lankan cooking. The book is about his cooking experience, family, and trips to colorful markets and stalls in Australia.
He is now running the international Flying Fish Restaurant in Sydney, which has received many prizes for high-grade seafood.
Coming to Ho Chi Minh City, the chef will introduce his restaurant's famous dishes at the New World event.
The Aussie dishes at the food show will have a strong seafood focus and some Sri Lankan influences.
"I would like to take the Australian flavor to Vietnam," says the chef.
Peter Kuruvita adds that customers will have a chance to taste some of his strong-point dishes such as yellow fin tuna with pink pomelo and grilled Barramundi fish.
"We will prepare some delicious dishes for lunch and dinner," he says, adding "I ensure that customers at the New World Hotel Saigon will have a surprising experience with a new style of cooking."
The event, held at Parkview Restaurant, will include a special Australian lunch with two dishes and wine during the week from May 31 to June 4. The lunch is served everyday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. with the price of VND285,000++/ US$15++ per person.
On June 1 and June 2, Parkview will start to serve five-course dinners from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Australian style dinner costs VND930,000++/ US$49++ per person.
The show will be wrapped up by a gala dinner on June 4. In the gala dinner, customers will have a chance to enjoy six delicious and attractive dishes, and taste some of the best wine that won prizes at the 2010 Australian Wine Contest.
Tickets to take part in the gala dinner, which cost VND2,280,000++ / US$120++ per person, are sold at the New World Hotel Saigon, 76 Le Lai Street, District 1. If customers book a ten-person table, they will enjoy an attractive price of VND1,900,000++ / US$100++ per person. And the restaurant will give priority to those who book in advance.
