The first American Idol winner and Billboard leader, Pop singer songwriter Kelly Clarkson will perform at Miss Vietnam finale in Phu Quoc Island this December.
Vietnam’s real estate and tourism giant Vingroup has gained approval from the beauty contest organizers to star Clarkson at the finale night of December 6 at the 5-star Vinpearl Phu Quoc resort, the group’s latest investment.
The 32-year-old will mark her Vietnam debut with some of the international market leaders that make up her name, including Billboard hits like A Moment Like This or Miss Independent.
Her career started when she won the first American Idol in 2002, which has given her the title “The Original American Idol.”
She rose to fames with albums that sold millions of copies world wide, earning her three Grammy awards and making her the first and only artist to win the Pop Vocal Album Grammy twice, for Breakaway (2004) and Stronger (2011).
She was one of only a few American Idol successes, including Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry and David Cook.
Vu Tuyet Hang, general director of Vinpearl company of the group, told Tien Phong Newspaper that Clarkson’s presence will make Miss Vietnam 2014 finale “the most impressive event of the year.”
“That will also be a chance to promote Phu Quoc,” she said.
Vietnam Television will air the pageant night live on channel VTV1.
