Singer Kelly Clarkson arrived in Vietnam with her daughter and husband this afternoon for her performance at Miss Vietnam Finale in Phu Quoc on Saturday.
The first American Idol winner and two-time Grammy winner was also accompanied by her band, background singers and makeup team.
Vo Do Minh Hoang, a representative of Viet Vision which invited Clarkson, said the singer has been “very friendly” upon arrival in Tan Son Nhat Airport, Ho Chi Minh City.
“She’s always smiling and talking to Vietnamese fans.”
The company will be taking her and the family through a tour around the city before leaving for the southern resort island the next day.
There, Clarkson will meet with the press, the beauty contest organizers, and practice with the local team at Vinpearl Phu Quoc Resort.
The 32-year-old started her career when she won the first American Idol in 2002, which has given her the title “The Original American Idol.”
She was one of only a few American Idol successes, including Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry and David Cook.
She rose to fame with albums that sold millions of copies world wide, earning her three Grammy awards and making her the first and only artist to win the Pop Vocal Album Grammy twice, for Breakaway (2004) and Stronger (2011).
Kelly welcomed her first child, River Rose, with her music manager husband, Brandon Blackstock, in June.
Vietnam Television will air the pageant night live on channel VTV1.
