Japanese comedy fest tickles Vietnam metros

The Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam is screening comedies for a Japanese film festival held in different parts of the country until the end of November.

Eight hit films made in the 2000s have been selected for the festival: Cannonball Wedlock (2011), A Good Husband (2010), Permanent Nobara (2010), The Chef of South Polar (2009), Double Trouble (2008), Summer Days with Coo (2007), Mind Game (2004), and Hush! (2001).

The festival opened in Hanoi on October 25, and the movies will be screened until November 4 at the National Cinema Center, 87 Lang Ha Street in Ba Dinh District.

All screenings will be in Japanese with Vietnamese and English subtitles, except for the screenings of the animated film "Summer Days with Coo" which will have a Vietnamese voice-over. The children's film will be screened on October 27 at 9:15 a.m. and on November 3 at 9:15 a.m.

Free tickets are available at the Japan Foundation at 27 Quang Trung Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi.

No tickets are required for screenings in Ho Chi Minh City and Phan Thiet Town, where all movies will be in Japanese with English and Vietnamese titles as well as Vietnamese voice-over.

In Phan Thiet, the movies will be screened between November 16 and November 18 at 19/4 Cinema, 30 Nguyen Du Street.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the festival will be held from November 24 to December 1 at Dong Da Cinema, 890 Tran Hung Dao Street, District 5.
