Famous Italian cellist Giovanni Sollima and local musician Vu Nhat Tan will fuse various music styles during a unique jam session in Hanoi this week.

Held at the Hanoi Opera House on June 13, the Italian Embassy-sponsored event will feature Tan's Cam hung Hanoi (Hanoi, sudden inspiration).

Giovanni Sollima graduated with excellence from the Palermo Music Institute in Sicily, Italy and then studied in Austria and Germany.

He has played his cello, made by Francesco Ruggieri in 1679, with famous artists including Claudio Abbado, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Jorg Demus and Martha Argerich.

Sollima plays different styles of music and is endlessly trying new combinations. He has at one time or another fused classical, rock, and jazz together with traditional music from around the world.

Tickets to the performance are sold at Hanoi Opera House. For ticket information, please call 091 348 9858.
